Cowslips

Spring is underway now and we are looking forward to seeing some flower after the  long and particularly miserable winter.

We have had some lucky breaks in the weather and have been able to prepare and sow some seed slightly earlier than previous years, so here’s hoping for a decent spring this year.

This isn’t a picture from this year but Cowslips are a brilliant early splash of colour and are not very fussy about soil and position. Importantly they are an early nectar source for our native pollenators who at the moment need all the help they can get.

Plugs are easy to establish in any small patch of garden, they will need no watering or intervention if they are planted before May.
